Here is my amateur review of the movie Noah. First, the old movie - TopicsExpress

Here is my amateur review of the movie Noah. First, the old movie The Ten Commandments with Charleton Heston is still a classic. I dont think Noah will be. After looking forward to this new movie for months and being assured by Mark Burnett when he visited our church that this movie would be respectful of Christian beliefs and mostly accurate with respect to the Biblical story (which by the way, Archeologists dont dispute. They are still looking for the ark and it is a matter of when not if, they will discover remains.). To me, this movie reeked of people making a movie who believe God to be (if he exists at all, since this was told in the manner of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale) a vengeful, angry God, with Noah and his family having more love and forgiveness in their hearts than Him. The fallen angels are depicted not as magnificently beautiful creatures, even in their fallen state (read about Lucifer being the most beautiful of all the angels in the Bible), and who didnt attempt to take over Heaven and create mass rebellion and hatred, but rather as a species of creatures who made a mistake and were being punished by God and attempting to earn a way back to Heaven by protecting and helping humanity. And they looked like transformers or one of the Fantastic Four superheroes. In addition to that, there were so many things about the ark, about how the ship looked (which is described in detail in the Bible) about the time on board, about the length of time it took to build the ark, about actually putting the evil King Tubal-Cain hidden on board the ark and murdering some of the animals God called to the ark (I guess those species then went extinct-maybe he should have eaten dinosaurs and wrapped that whole question as well?) And about Noah planning to kill his family, sure that God had given up on man entirely and that it was his own weakness (or rather his own great love for humanity, which was apparently greater than Gods) that caused him to change his mind. Last, but certainly not least: the Bible explicitly states that Noah, his wife, 3 sons AND THEIR THREE WIVES all entered the ship and God shut the door. It is absolutely unscriptural to say that 2 of the sons had no wives, leaving the conclusion that those 2 sons would have had to marry the daughters born to their Shem, who in the movie had a wife-or to marry any additional children born to Noah and his wife. This last bit is the excuse the movie used for Ham being angry to the point of considering murdering his own father and partnering with the evil King. I am all for Christian-friendly movies, but in my opinion, this one was not so and not even a well-told story, true or not. It was a completely dark movie with the even the rainbows at the end not being explained. I am so disappointed with this movie. Please dont take your children. Dont take your unbelieving friends. Go only if you are willing to before or after re-read the story in the Bible for yourself. If the Bible you use has a concordence, which is like a cross-reference guide, you can go to the back and do a search on words which will take you to other instances where the word, like Noah, is mentioned. Do your homework, so you arent left wondering if Christians are brain-dead, or what was true or not? The existence of God is not proved or dis-proved by a misleading movie. Peace.
