(Here is my another short article which I have already posted on the official facebook page of Cybertech institute) Citing a person`s life should be full of happiness, some people claim that when we are young, under age 30, we should put our maximum effort into having fun and a thoroughly spontaneous life by going party, travel etc. Although the argument may appear well-founded at a superficial level, a critical assessment indicates otherwise. Stated in this way, the argument fails to address several key factors, on the basis of which its reasoning could be evaluated. Consequently, the conclusion relies on assumptions for which there is a paucity of evidence; hence, the argument is fallacious and ultimately unconvincing. First, those people readily assume that a person`s life should be full of happiness; so, young people should go party, travel etc. This statement is a stretch since the definition of happiness differs from person to person. To illustrate, an individual gets delighted when he or she reads a book while another one feels the same after going to a party. Thus, a happy individual`s life may seem really boring in another person`s point of view. If the argument had mentioned what a happy life means, it would have been much clearer. Second, the argument claims that when we are young we should substantially spend going to party, travel etc to have a happy life. This is again a weak claim because the argument does not demonstrate any correlation between going to party or being young and a happy life. It is beyond dispute that there are lots of elderly people who have happier life than many juveniles`, indicating we can be pleased even in over 60s ages. If the argument had provided more information about the reason for which we should endeavor to have happy life, especially when we are under age 30, it would have been more strengthened. Finally, there is a big distinction between the short-term happiness and the long-term one. According to the psychologists` opinion, the long-term happiness can be achieved only by a life of toil. As a result, those people feeling fulfilling for a long period of time are those who have striven to obtain a great achievement in their lives. Obviously, we have the maximum energy and the minimum responsibility when we are in 20s in comparison to any other periods of life, having the best opportunity to try our best. In conclusion, the argument is flawed for the aforementioned reasons and is therefore unconvincing. In order to assess the merits of the argument, it is essential to have full knowledge of all corresponding facts. Without this information the argument remains unsubstantiated and vulnerable to criticism.
