Here is my email to the back room Cottingham regarding the gig being closed due to me offending them. Thanks for all the support, Email : Jimbayescomedy@gmail Subject : An apology Message : Hello Andy would not pass on your contact details as he is upset at developments this week regarding the comedy however, I see you have this contact us section so I figured I would. I would like to apologise for any offence caused by my joking about the meditation business (one can only assume this is the business in question) as the desired effect of the jokes I was making were that I was the butt of the joke as no matter how good the classes are Im renowned for being tight. Yes I mocked the wording and the subject and if this is what offends you I am very sorry. I did also turn around and say Im sure this business is not being given credit please do go to this I know that as I wrote it on the front of the flyer. I am writing to apologise though not to make excuses, offence is subjective and what offends you may not offend me which is why I am always careful in my comedy not to make victims, as with this piece of observation where while I teased the wording my closing line about how this could actually be really good was the joke that no matter how good as Im tight with money I would never relax paying for it, I then made a blatantly unreasonable suggestion it should only cost a fiver thus highlighting that Im the one wrong not the business in question. Again if this is not how it was perceived then I can only say sorry. You should perhaps not cancel a young entrepreneurs business in your venue on the basis of something I have done, that is in my opinion incredibly poor form. You can ban me and if it is really offensive to have anything connected to your business used in material ban the use of that, we are happy to work to that. Comedy is about the laughter and people buying drinks (comedy crowds drink) and having a good time. Again I must state that it is not my intention to make victims, I apologise to yourself and your lovely wife whom Im certain runs a fabulous business for not making that clear enough. I hope this makes sense enough for you to consider that punishing Andy is unreasonable. I would ask that you re consider his comedy club however, I understand he may have now found an alternative venue.
