Here is my official announcement! I am selected for Chief Petty Officer!! I want to thank God for this blessing and privilege! I want to also thank my husband Brandon; during INSURV I did not have any time to take care of myself, and this man came to my ship, not once or twice but several and more times to review my record, to get copies of my records to share with half the bases Master Chiefs and Senior Chiefs! That is what I call support! I also want to thank all of my sailors, from my guys who I fondly call my sons, to all of those that I mentor or allow me to mentor and lead them. Being onboard the USS FITZGERALD has been tough, growing and maturing experience for me. I also want to thank my brothers and sisters of my mess; you guys were there for me during a hard time of my life and have always been encouraging! I want to thank all of my mentors, Jeff Mildred-Zielinski, Jeffrey Fox, Jeffrey Michael Black, Daniel Ramsey, Amaury Ponciano, Christine Witty, Juan Torres NúñezJoshua DavisTheresa Hickman James F. WittsCharles L White, I have so many more to list, but cant get through my list fast enough (lol)! You all inspire me and motivate me! I love you all. I especially want to thank my mother Daisy Mejia, my aunt Martha and my father Armando Mejia! Theyve always have supported me in my decision to enlist in the armed forces. Im a very sad that my dad is no longer with us to celebrate this with me, because he has followed mine and Brandons career closely and even he knew how important being selected for CPO is for Brandon and me. I want am so thankful to so many people right now; because I could not get here alone without you all!
