Here is my promised view of the EGO. Love You!! First lets define the ego. Ill use the dictionary: 1. The self, especially as distinct from the world and other selves. 2. In psychoanalysis, the division of the psyche that is consciousness most immediately controls thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external reality. 3. a. An exaggerated sense of self importance and b. Appropriate pride in ones self, self esteem. Based on these definitions, I say we come into the world with a self which is distinct from all other selves. And based upon how babies are in my experience, that self, though distinct, is pure Love. And people gather around to bask in the glow of the Love coming from these pure and loving children. When I first started awakening, I was told that the ego is bad and I like everyone else ought to eliminate it. And I was told that certain people, usually revered spiritual leaders, were with out their egos. Frankly, that did not ring true to me, but my questions were greeted with either derision or worse. A number of years ago I met a woman, Veronique Corbett. And Veronique presented a different view of the ego which is more in line with the first definition above. She simply said, we arrive here at birth as pure Love and our ego is pure Love at that time. At the same time, I met up with don Miguel Ruizs writings and he said we are taught our beliefs at an early age and 90% to 95% of those beliefs are Beautiful Perfect lies. Based upon my own experience, Id say that is a low estimate. Putting those two together it appears to me by our education and domestication our ego gets warped. And in some cases warped to an extreme. Over the course of my life, I have studied any number of religions and philosophies and met and listen to some of our Holy leaders. It is my observation that none of them were without their egos. Even those who said they have none and I should pray to them; rather than God for they have the direct line to God. Ive immersed myself in a variety of religions, but have always come away doubting the motivation behind these mass belief systems. Personally, I want my own relationship with God and to be one with God. I found as I doubted my own beliefs and started seeing God in everyone, my beliefs declined and my faith and sense of well being increased. I felt one with God. I now believe, I no longer need an egoectomy, but rather I need to completely return to the pure ego of Love I came here with as my being. I call all of you Beautiful Perfect. I do this because to me God/Love/Life is Beautiful Perfect and only makes Beauty and Perfection. And after all, He/She/It made all of us and everything else. I do practice don Miguel Ruizs six agreements. These are six agreements with myself. I do communicate with God/Love/Life a lot each day and I find myself listening more than asking. Id urge you to take a long look at your ego and rather than reject it, love it. After all in my universe God only makes beauty and perfection and he/she/it made all of us including our egos. Lastly, I urge you to listen carefully to yourself and others with love and respect, but to doubt all you see and hear, including the voice in your mind. And please doubt everything I say, for I know I do not have your answers. Love You!!
