Here is one of the speeches given at the Patrick Feeks Bridge - TopicsExpress

Here is one of the speeches given at the Patrick Feeks Bridge Dedication by one of his Team mates. We are sincerely grateful that his team mates took time from thier busy lives to attend the bridge ceremony and were so willing to talk about Pat. The Brothers are forever in our hearts. ____________________________________________________ I knew Pat for a little over four years. I served with him on two deployments and since we were both new guys at the same time, we sort of grew up in the teams together. I want to tell you about Pat, as the man and Navy SEAL that I knew. Pat was a warrior. In early 2012, Pat was involved in a battle in northern Afghanistan. Enemy fire was intense, and several of Pats comrades were pinned down. Not to be deterred by the enemys brutal assault, Pat went to work. Without a thought for himself, he ran to an exposed position and engaged the enemy with a machine gun. He called in air strikes and worked diligently to turn the tide. When the battle was over, and Pat had helped win the day, he emailed his wife Emily. After an experience that would rock most men physically and mentally, Pat only said, I could have done this better, I could have done that better. He was only concerned with how he could improve himself and fight better. He was a warriors warrior. You might think a warrior of this calibre on the battlefield had a hard heart - but the exact opposite was true. Pat devoted himself as much - if not more so - to his wife and family as he did to bettering himself as a SEAL. With his wife Emily, he displayed his love for her openly; both physically when they were together and also to those of us on deployment with him when we talked about home. His love for his family was evident in the things I heard him say over the four years I knew him. Pat was intensely proud of his dads Naval service and proud to be following in his fathers footsteps. He was equally proud of his sister attending the Naval Academy and joining the family tradition. And it was also easy for me to spot that Pat was a Mommas boy - because Im one too. Pat loved those around him and cared about everyone. This was clear to those of us that call him brother through his precision, discriminate action and selflessness on the battlefield. Pat was a devoted Son, Husband, and Brother. He was so many things to all of us, and so much more. I currently have the privilege and honor to be involved in the selection of our next generation of Navy SEALs as a buds instructor. I am thankful for having served and shared so much with Pat. He is my example in what to look for in the young men seeking to follow in his footsteps and serve our country while wearing the Trident. When you get to stand shoulder to shoulder at the gates of hell with a fearless warrior like Pat, its an unforgettable experience that you cant understand unless youve done it. As long as the Navy SEAL teams exist, Pat will be our example, our guide, and he will NEVER be forgotten. God bless you Pat, and well see you again someday.
