ISSUED BY MetService AT 7:55pm 19-Jul-2014 URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST IN: Northland RAIN OVER NORTHLAND EASING EARLY SUNDAY MORNING A low and associated fronts over Northland should move away to the east early Sunday morning with the rain in the region gradually easing. Another 30 to 50mm of rain is possible in eastern parts of Northland south of the Bay of Islands through to 6am Sunday, on top of similar amounts that have already fallen in this area. Given the already sodden conditions, rivers and streams will rise rapidly, and further surface flooding and slips are possible. Note, the winds have eased over much of Northland except the far south. However, southerly gales with gusts of 90 km/h are expected to develop in exposed places during Sunday morning as the low moves away to the east.
