Here is the latest weather alert as of 4:06PM: Heavy rain extends into the Mid-Atlantic region at this time. Sustained winds remain near 45 mph, mainly along the coast and for offshore areas. Andrea is expected to move into southern Virginia later this afternoon then emerge into the Atlantic from the southern Delmarva Peninsula this evening. Once offshore, Andrea will race northeastward just off the East Coast, skirting southern Nova Scotia and passing south of Newfoundland over the weekend. Andrea has completed the transition to extratropical. Winds of 35 to 45 mph remain possible across the area, mainly along the coast. 2-4 inches of rain accumulation is expected today, with isolated higher totals possible upwards to six inches. Lighter rain showers could last into Saturday. Tides of 1 to 2 feet above normal are possible this afternoon and evening along the coast. Little change in intensity is expected over the next day or so, with only slight weakening forecast beyond tomorrow afternoon. Again, be aware of flooding in the usual low lying areas. Don’t take chances driving through high standing water! Be safe out there everyone!
