Here is the update youve all been waiting for. It isnt great news but not for the reasons you would expect. Our vet called us back late last night and let us know that the lab lost the lymph node. He was beside himself over this and said they have used this lab for a very long time and have never had something like this happen. However, this means that we will never know whether or not Piglets cancer had spread. He said we could still make the decision to treat her but no one would blame us if we decided not to. We talked about it and still have a couple questions for the oncologist but weve decided that unless we get some other very specific information we are not going to treat Piglet any further. Piglet gets so stressed out at the vet that if she doesnt have cancer anymore and we subject her to that we couldnt live with ourselves. If she does have cancer there is certainly no guarantee that chemotherapy would extend her life in any way. For now, we are going to trust that the cancer was completely removed and that Piglet will be with us for a while. But we are also realistic to know that we really dont know what the future holds. In the mean time, Piglet is eating well and back to her normal routines so for now we feel like we made the right decision. Thanks everyone for coming along on this journey.
