Here is what I propose to carry out, should you guys elect me for President on Sunday: - Build a community – I want all Jewish students to feel like they are part of a Jewish community here in Nottingham. I want you guys to get that Friday Night feeling!!! For instance, when you’re stuck in that dull lecture on a Friday afternoon, I want the thought of a good meal surrounded by close friends in a family-like atmosphere, to help drive you through! Importantly, I would never force anyone into doing something they don’t want to do. The Jewish student population we have here in Nottingham is so diverse that I believe everyone is entitled to be as active as they wish. But hopefully, with the range of events we organise, more and more people will come along to something! - Transparency of finances – As those of you who have been on the JSoc committee in the past will know, the relationship between JSoc and UJS (Union of Jewish Students), financially in particular, seems a bit unclear and confusing. I promise to the best of my ability, to attempt to refresh this relationship, which would help JSoc massively in the long-term, in terms of working with both UJS and the Nottingham and Trent Students’ Unions. - Interfaith – Living in a multi-cultural society, I see it as vitally important for us to not only improve our intra-Jewish friendships, but also to continue the work of previous JSoc committees in promoting interfaith and enhancing our harmonious relations with other religious and cultural societies. As part of this, I would advocate for the State of Israel whilst strongly supporting peaceful co-existence in the Middle East between all groups.
