Here is what the Yard Sale ordinance means to me: The leaders of Lawrenceburg are to busy worrying about yard sale signs instead of focusing on bigger issues. Such as the fact it is now August 14th and they have yet to pass a budget. About the signs. First off how will they know which signs belong to which house? Are you going to register your sign locations? Also who is going to be required to go around and make sure all the signs are picked up? The Codes Department wont even enforce the codes in place now much less a new one. So it falls to the Police Department. The underfunded, understaffed, still driving 14 year old cars with paint falling off Police Department. So now, in Lawrenceburg, on top of looking for drug offenders, burglars, drunk drivers, and every other type of criminal the Officers who have had their health insurance slashed at least 3 times in the last 3 years have to look for yard sale signs. Like they have nothing better to do. If they are so worried about how Lawrenceburg looks how about paving some streets. How about getting those crappy police cars off the road. How about enforcing some of the codes about mowing your lawn, trash in the yard, condemned buildings being torn down. There is a start. This basically boils down to the City of Lawrenceburg worrying more about what your doing in your yard, a yard you already pay taxes on, than they are running the business of the City. To bad all this came out after the election signup deadline. By the way where is the ordinance limiting the placement of political signs???
