Here it is, my #ALSIceBucketChallenge video! :D But I am also pleased as punch to announce that since getting nominated for this, Ive gotten my family to donate $165 to the fund! Since this whole event has evolved from the new stupid thing to do on the Internet to something that has been brought to my personal friend group, my opinions on this phenomena have changed. Drastically. In the past couple of weeks, a few simple statistics have brought me from lawl white people wasting clean water to stop the spread of a disease they dont even know about hurrrrr durrrrrrr to Wow, you go ALS foundation!! As of Tuesday, August 19, The ALS Association has received $22.9 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 19). These donations have come from existing donors and 453,210 new donors to The Association. (Sources in da comments) This afternoon, the United States House of Representatives passed the FY15 Department of Defense Appropriations Act and included an additional $7.5 million to continue funding for the ALS Research Program (ALSRP) at the Department of Defense. If enacted, the bill would bring total funding for the program to $57.5 million! Facebook released statistics Friday, showing that 15 million people across the social network have posted about, commented or liked a post related to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. People have also posted more than 1.2 million videos. The ALS Foundation has got some solid work done; who cares if they did it by exploiting the way its fun to watch people be wet and in pain? Plus its making tons of money and bringing people together, and thats what really matters. :3 Anyways, I nominate [Kait Thomas, Owen Glendening, and Dan Lockery] to do the same thing.
