Many of the songs were written in a remote part of the Hudson Valley, and are steeped with the influences of songwriters such as Dar Williams, A.A. Bondy, Jesse Sykes, Patty Griffin, and inspired by the legacy of Pete Seeger. The record also boasts several cameo performances from friends in the local music community, who added new flavors and expanded the overall album concept from a singer with a guitar to a dreamer cracking open her sonic palette to illustrate a different point of view.
