Here they go again with sensationalistic highlight of European - TopicsExpress

Here they go again with sensationalistic highlight of European connections that turn out to be to a much broader genomic pattern. But leaving that media bias behind, still an interesting find, and one that includes a female icon of a kind well-known from paleolithic Malta (not to be confused with the island Malta) which they call here a Venus figurine. [So tired of this stereotypical framing!] DNA from the boys Y chromosome and from the mitochondria (the cells batteries) were of types found today in a region encompassing Europe, West and South Asia and North Africa, but rare or absent in Central Asia, East Asia and the Americas. The article is contradictory, since it also posits this dna pattern as a direct link to Indigenous America. More interesting what the scientist says, When we sequenced this genome, something strange appeared. Parts of the genome you find today in western Eurasians, other parts of the genome you find today in Native Americans - and are unique today to Native Americans. As mentioned here before, the Central Asian Ket language has been demonstrated to have deep links to the Na-Dené language family of North America. Now the dna is showing the same linkage. Ill post another better article in a sec. bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-25020958
