Here we go...Lindsey Gothard Traweek called me out for the #ALSicebucketchallenge and my big boys decided to join in, too. Ive seen many opinions on this challenge. Its not meant to be a fad, so please take a moment to educate yourself. Its important to me because it hits close to home. I dont mind using the water, and my crepe myrtles probably appreciated the cool drink. Maybe you dont agree with some of the research approaches and thats okay. All I know is this is a horrible disease - a diagnosis is pretty much a death sentence. I still vividly remember my grandma wearing leg braces, but still trying to do cartwheels with the 5 year old me. I remember the motorized chair and bed because she couldnt get up by herself. And I remember the horrible sounds of the nurses suctioning out her lungs through her trach when her body couldnt do it on its own. So, Im challenging anyone that watches to open your heart or your mind or your wallet or your arms to someone affected by ALS. We will be donating (like always).
