Heres a clip that puts a lump in my throat every single time I see it. I am generally not of the Hawk mentality, but deep down, I despise a bully. In this scene from the 1980 time travel film Final Countdown its December 6th, 1941, and the Japanese task force is on its way to Pearl Harbor. Two Japanese Zero scout planes encounter a 50 private yacht somewhere far offshore in Hawaiian waters. As a precaution, they fire upon (and destroy) this unarmed civilian vessel in order to keep it from warning Hawaiian defense forces of the impending attack. Meanwhile elsewhere, The modern day aircraft carrier USS Nimitz has been mysteriously transported back in time 40 years and becoming aware of their potential place in history. The Nimitz sends 2 F-14 Tomcats to investigate and eventually engage the Zeros. For the good guys to have such an incredible advantage over cowardly bullies chokes me up inside, as I never had that advantage when schoolyard bullies took me on 4 & 5 at a time. This clip makes me very proud to be an American because it shows off what a magnificent aircraft can do when faced dispatching a cowardly contender. Its kinda like Robocop vs a thug. Enjoy the clip, get the movie. https://youtube/watch?v=oyjNInIH4Hw
