Heres a critically important issue in which a new proposed solution (Obamas MBK initiative) is once again starting out with strong shades of Social Darwinistic ideology: blaming the victims, insisting on an individualistic approach to a societal problem, ignoring the huge and strong hand that capitalistic enterprise has had in creating the problem in the first place. We should be looking to ways corporate enterprise and the financiers can be regulated so as to re-distribute not only opportunity, but real, financial resources to those black men and boys Obama wants to help.
