Heres a feel good story that I didnt know about previously. In a press release from the Pasco Clerk of Court: In 2014, 290 jurors graciously donated a total of $4,890 to local nonprofits through the Voluntary Jury Service Compensation Donation Program. The Office of Paula S. O’Neil started the program on May 5, 2014, to allow jurors to voluntarily donate their jury service fees to one of three Pasco County designated charities: Salvation Army Domestic Violence Program of West Pasco, Pasco County Guardian ad Litem, or Sunrise of Pasco, Inc. The Clerk & Comptroller’s Office commends the generosity of the citizens who participated. (There is a lot more to the press release, but that paragraph catches the gist.) Do other counties offer the same opportunity to jurors? Thanks to Paula and her staff for the program and for so many generous jurors who do good and help other people while engaged in their civic duty.
