Heres a good firefighter story, when I was working on Engine 7 we got a House fire call, so we run to the truck got inside and the Capt. Tom Mitchel read the address out loud for the Engineer(Driver) Mike Smith on where to go, Mike says, say the address again? when Tom said it, Mike yelled THATS MY HOUSE! our station is at 4th St. an Hatcher, the house fire, Mikes house was at Greenway an 27th St. It was a Friday afternoon about 4 pm, Mike drove like a bat out of hell, he also had 5 and 8 year old children, so we all hung on for dear life and the Capt. kept yelling at mike to slow down, we were the second fire Engine due by miles but we still beat everybody to the address. When we got there we pulled our attack fire hoses and just about kicked the door in when Mikes wife who was standing outside stopped us and said it was just clothing in the dryer that were burning and the house filled up with smoke.
