Heres a #guiltypleasuresunday pick: Signaling the beginning of the end of the grunge era with an album that really wasnt grunge, so much as it was Rush-inspired hard-rock, Candlebox was an easy band for many to dislike. Their self-titled debut was the first rock release on Madonnas Maverick record label and it seemed to blatantly take advantage of the distortion pedal phenomenon centering in Seattle, Washington. However derivative this album may have seemed, there was no denying the musical talent and the power of Kevin Martins vocals. With HUGE hits such as Cover Me, Far Behind, Change and Rain this album was a bonafide commercial success. None of their subsequent albums managed to capture that success. - BC grooveshark/album/Candlebox/1090258 (1993)
