Heres a happy story in the midst of all the tragedy recently. Recently on Sundays Ive started doing free tutoring for a mother of two from Uzbekistan who I met in my math class. English isnt her first language so many times she isnt able to pick up a lot of what our teacher says and in her country she was only barely taught how to do basic operations (adding,subtracting, multiplying, and dividing). Because of these two factors she failed our first two tests. The language barrier and lack of knowledge makes these teaching sessions very difficult but she has never once stopped trying and today it payed off. She completed a parabolic quadratic equation and graphed it all by herself for the first time! She was so proud of herself she started crying. I cant remember the last time I was more happy/proud/inspired by someone. It has also given me so much respect for awesome teachers that put effort into their lessons and care about their students ( cough cough Cheryl Kline Bleiler). I hope this brightened your day cause it definitely illuminated mine.
