Heres a little glimpse of Hey There, Good Times, as performed by Jesse Luttrell & Co. with my orchestra on Oct. 18. Scott Thompson staged the number, with Eric Rivas, Buddy Flowers, Jeremy Miranda, Jeff Lagace, Jeff Metzler, Justin Henry, Evan Campbell, and Barrett Davis. The sound is a pale shadow of what was heard from those superior musicians in the hall (no trumpets in the mix, since theyre so live in the hall, for instance).... but youll get the basic idea. I did a slightly different arrangement of the song from the one for Jesses CD, but if you want to hear it properly, you know what to do! Get the CD! I performed this song in I LOVE MY WIFE at Theatre-By-The-Sea 33 years ago (Michael McGrath and Gary Lynch were the leading men.) The song was introduced on Broadway by John Miller & Co. – and 37 years later, John contracted the players for Jesses CD.
