Heres a sneak preview of tonights mid-week service topic: The Inspiration of the Scriptures. Text: II Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, throughly equipped for every good work. Observation & Interpretation: Here in II Timothy, a Pastoral Epistle to Timothy the Pastor in Ephesus, we see that the Apostle tells his understudy that the Scriptures are a) Divinely Inspired by God and b) profitable for doctrine, instruction, and yes even correction for those who misuse or misinterpret Gods word and will. In fact, one verse earlier Paul explains that the Holy Scriptures can make us wise for salvation. Put simply when we heard the good news of Jesus, faith came, and we received him in our hearts as our personal Lord and Savior. Moreover, the Scriptures give us direction for the work in His Kingdom as we serve others lovingly. Amen, thank God for the Bible! This proves how important the Bible is to us as believers. We heard the Gospel, believed, we were saved by His grace, and then as mature believers we serve the people the way He desires. To cross reference this we can read Romans 10:17 which tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Therefore the importance of the Holy Scriptures, i.e. the Bible cannot be emphasized enough. FAITH FOR SALVATION COMES BY THE SCRIPTURES! Application: As believers we must value the Bible and set aside some time everyday for both reading it and practicing it while serving others. As a great Missionary Evangelist who conducted mass evangelistic & miracle crusades for more than 60 years in 180 nations used to say: The only Bible you know is what you do! Translation: Read it and do it! See you tonight, Pastor Bill
