Heres a testament to why footy is the greatest sport in not only Australia but in the whole world. Brians story of a changed life thanks to Aussie Rules in the USA is genuine and heartwarming. The exciting thing is Ive seen many other Americans have a different experience over the years but with a similar fantastic outcome. Theres the story of another Brian, who picked up the sport late in life. Theres one of my best friends Alan who has been able to reclaim that high school competitive environment. We cant forget Nathan, who launched a successful business off a moniker he was given after a footy game. And my favorite tale, the incredible shrinking Pat, who is literally half the man he used to be. There are too many more to mention here. This weekend saw my time of being officially involved with the league finished but it will never be out of my heart. Footy kept me together at a time when everything else had fallen apart in my own life. For that, I will never stop giving back to the game.
