Heres one thing I appreciate about my dad. We found a bookshelf and desk in great condition. The person we got them from arranged for their movers to deliver them to us for a fee. When they arrived, they hadnt secured the items in their truck (lesson learned - pay after a service). Ive been so careful to wait for bargains on good, sturdy, used furniture and was really frustrated to have paid these professional movers only to have them deliver the desk with a puncture in the top and the shelf banged up and scratched on one side. They tried to downplay the damage and hightailed it out of there as soon as they dropped them off. My dad, in the last week and unbeknownst to me, began repairing the pieces and they already look better. I have no words to say how much that act of love means to me. I do know those pieces will never be the same as when they left the previous owners house but those scars will remind me how my dad gave me the gift of doing something about them because he loves me. He turned something that was really ugly to me (the lack of integrity the men displayed) into something where Ill always see beauty (my dads love for me).
