Heres something to ponder on . I was just reading Mayor Craig Cates page regarding a minimum wage hike . Thats a great idea but something needs to be done about affordable housing as well . heres why . The average pay scale for the working class people is about $12.00 an hour , which comes to about $1900.00 a month , before taxes . The average cost for houseing is about $1500.00 a month . Then there are the utilities , electric , water , gas etc . then comes the necessities like food , hygene , phone and so on . Not only are you already in debt already with those things , you can forget about saveing or getting ahead . I speak to many Conchs whove left Key West and almost all share those same reasons, that i mentioned , for leaving . . Please visits Craigs page and express your views because I know him and his wife are serious humanitarians that care about others and the less fortunate . Your input can make a differance cause without a doubt he is looking for a solution to make it easier for the working class :)
