I dont think this has been answered. What religion do the gods themselves belong to? Is the Christian God, the Father of Jesus the blessed one, a Christian? Is Allah, the man who instructed the first Muslim, Prophet Muhammad, a Muslim? (My reading tells me that Khadija, Muhammads wife, was the first Muslim because it was she who first believed in the revelation that Muhammad had in the cave of Hira.) Is the formless Brahma, the one who can only be described by negating every description (neti! neti!), a Hindu? Most priests, mullahs and shankaracharyas would say no, that their Gods are beyond religious affiliation, that they are all powerful, that they are everywhere, everything and so on. Now, if the Gods themselves are not Christian, Muslim or Hindu, why should their followers be Christian, Muslim and Hindu? Why do the followers of these religions follow the example of their Messiah, Prophet and Saints, why dont they follow the example of their God himself? Why be like the messenger of God, when you can be like God? Or does being human, and a believer, entail being inferior to God? Is the believer by virtue of being a believer someone who is perpetually second-rate? If the answer to this is yes, then the believers are inferior to us as we non-believers consider ourselves the equal of gods. So believers, I feel very sorry for you, but in the cosmic order of things you are inferior to us. And please dont get mad at me, this is the logical outcome of your own belief system. You have only two choices (or three, if you have murder on your mind): either you declare yourself the equal of your God, or accept that you are inferior to both your God and Us.
