Heres the dumb idea Ive been trying to promote for a while and may be worth discussing. Building or buying a mini-home on a trailer is still a relatively expensive process. Theres a TON of boats out there which can be had for cheap or for free. It does not make economic sense to try to restore most of these boats (e.g. Ill cost you $15k to fix a 40 year old fiberglass boat in total disrepair, but for $8k you can buy a similar boat in reasonably good shape.) However, if you dont need these boats to sail, let alone even float, you can _easily_ get a free space to live. Put a couple of thousand into a trailer, and youve got a mobile mini-home. Remove the keel and recycle the metal, and the income from that may mostly cover the cost of the trailer, giving you a nearly free mobile mini-home. Prototype the concept with one, then create an entire community around free mobile land yachts.
