Heres the official notice: Sent on behalf of Dr. Frank Chong Due to the storm, all campuses and facilities at Santa Rosa Junior College will close at noon today with one exception: Public Safety Training Center remains open today. All classes this afternoon and tonight are cancelled. The Culinary Center is closed. However, Those students and staff who are not already at SRJC do not need to come to class or to work. If you are at SRJC already, and need to leave before noon, you are free to do so. Please be sure to notify your supervisor. Certain categories of employees may be needed to deal with essential operations. If youre unclear whether your presence is needed, contact your supervisor. Employee time will not be docked due to the closure. For students, today will be an excused absence; for students unable to attend class. If they have assignments due, they are encouraged to submit them by email. There will be no penalty if they are unable to do so. We’ll continue to post information as follows: santarosa.edu, AlertU, facebook/santarosajc, twitter/srjc, Nixle. We’ll also send media alerts to local radio stations and online media including the Press Democrat online. If you do not have electricity, you can call 527-4011 for a message about any potential closure. Faculty members: if you are unable to get to campus, it is very important for you to contact your department chair and administrative assistant, and to email students in their cubby. TODAY: Sign up for AlertU, our official communication channel for emergencies. ALERTU communicates official information during critical SRJC emergencies (e.g. closure, electrical outage) via text message to your cell phone. 1. With your cell phone, text to 55155 (this is the text phone number to the ALERTU system.) the letters ‘SRJC’ 2. You will receive a welcome text message. 3. Reply with the letter Y for yes. 4. Program 55155 into your phones address book under the name ‘ALERTU’. This will allow you to recognize the sender if an emergency message is sent.
