Heres the start of this weeks project,i dont think anyone would be interested in our normal work week but when we have something interesting going on i figured you may want to see. Ive just started the job and ill update whenever we get some progress but ive got Gary Cartmels factory HRC RC500,its Dave Thorpes 1986 world 500cc FIM championship bike which Gary purchased from the 4 time (lets not forget the vet championship) world champ.When Honda gave these bikes to the winning rider back in the day they didnt let the bike go with any internals,it was purely a show piece so Gary set to work and had the motor and shock rebuilt,he then gave me all of the parts to give it a fluff and buff and re-assemble.Its nowhere near a restoration in the true sense of the word but its still going to take a lot of time to get the bike rebuilt nicely-especially as over the years the bike has lost a lot of its original Titanium fasteners im having to really be meticulous on the rebuild. Anyway i put it together to get a good feel for whats needed then today ive bare framed it for a good clean and inspection and ill get updates as she comes together over the next week or so,i need to get it back to Gary as im expecting a container so not only do we need the space i wont be able to get to it.
