Expect Him to inspect us. Now, I don’t have to tell you. This has got to be one of the most difficult things to grapple with. This invasiveness can be difficult even for us Christians. I’ve discovered that this flesh doesn’t like being inspected. Introduce me—infuse me—inspire me—inform me—instruct me—influence me—dwell-in me—involve me—but inspect me—that’s another story! At the turn of the millennium, the Y2K generation said of God that He was in their business! “He was all up in their cool-aide.” Before that, the Psalmist David invited God to cross-examine him. “See whether I’ve done anything wrong—then guide me on to eternal life.” (Ps.139:23-24.) The Holy Spirit will inspect us regardless. But it’s so much easier if we willingly expect Him—to inspect us.
