Here’s What’s Happening In Western Tidewater SAT AUG 10 – 3:00pm The 33rd Annual Pig Picking will be held on Saturday, August 10th beginning at 5:00pm. The gates will open at 3pm and fellowship will be from 3 to 5pm. Beginning at 5 until 7pm food will be served including all you can eat BBQ, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Bread, and Liquid Refreshments that may require your ID. Advance tickets from any club member or at Fred’s Restaurant in Franklin are $25 and at the gate they will be $30. Also, there will be live music preformed by the Kevin Mac Band. SAT AUG 10 – 5:00pm The Franklin-Southampton County Fair Steak Feast Fundraiser is Saturday August 10th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm. Gates open at 4:30pm with dinner served at 6:00pm. Music provided by Hickory Knoll Band. Your $25.00 donation includes a great steak dinner and takeout plates are available. Tickets can be purchased from any fair board member. SAT AUG 10 (register) The Annual VFW Car Show is coming to the Gates County High School on Saturday August 17th rain or shine from 10:00am to 4:00pm. There will be dash plaques for the first 50 vehicles, door prizes and a 50-50 raffle. Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division and the VFW’s Car Of The Show. You will get the opportunity to meet experts on how to write resumes, improve interviewing skills, and how to job search. All attendees must register.
