Here’s a favorite post of ours from the past: Three International Space Station crew members are taking their Soyuz for a spin around the block today as they prepare the extremely busy final week of Expedition 37. The Russian Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft, with Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin of the Russian Federal Space Agency, NASA Flight Engineer Karen Nyberg and European Space Agency Flight Engineer Luca Parmitano aboard, will undock from the Rassvet module on the Earth-facing side of the Russian segment of the complex and redock at the aft port of the Zvezda Service Module. The maneuver will open the Rassvet port for the Nov. 7 arrival of three new crew members for station operations. Richard Mastracchio of NASA, Mikhail Tyurin of the Russian Federal Space Agency and Koichi Wakata of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency are scheduled to launch to the orbiting outpost on Nov. 6 at 11:14 p.m. Yurchikhin, Nyberg and Parmitano will depart the station in the Soyuz TMA-09M on Nov. 10, for a landing later that day on the steppe of Kazakhstan.
