Heron Foot ~ Since Ive been getting a good reaction to the photos of this Green Heron I thought Id share one more. This one was my attempt to get the cleanest background I could. This was as low as I could get on the dirt road near Gull Pond at Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge and I opened the lens up to f/4 to get as much isolation against the pretty but somewhat busy background. Not long before this photo the heron had caught and eaten a very large tadpole. It continued to stalk and hunt in the large patch of lilly pads. A little after this photo I had a great sequence of an attempted strike but a large pad hid the birds face so its not worth sharing. I really liked this photo because of the foot in the air pose.
