Hey AML...you didnt think that Id come back...Id come back swinging...you tried to break me but you see...what doesnt kill you makes you stronger.... I have to say that Ive worn out that song over the past 4 years and am probably now hearing impaired from blasting it at loud volumes, but my little anthems keep me going. This past Sunday we hosted cocktails + conversation in northern San Diego for our many long-time La Costa friends that we made during past summer visits. I was able to share Zachs story in detail, as well as welcomed Dr. Phil Greenberg and Dr. Fred Appelbaum from The Fred Hutch to talk about targeted T-cell Therapy for leukemias and other cancers -- a unique, promising new treatment involving re-engineering white blood cells to recognize and attack ONLY your cancer cells, leaving your healthy cells alone and now in clinical trials. I want to thank all of our friends for coming out...many were inspired to get involved in speeding this effort, especially for kids with AML who are so desperate for options. Thanks to Granna & Poppie for hosting!! It was a beautiful setting to share hope. Doing this was very scary for me...but I had to remember how very scared Zach was on multiple occasions and how other kids with leukemia and other cancers are afraid every day. Trying to honor Zach by doing something positive....! Never Surrender! J PS - Remember to Save the Date! October 16th in Dallas and October 23rd in Austin...6:30pm at two very cool venues...well honor Zachs 10th birthday and move the ball against leukemia! Its gonna be outrageous, fun & inspirational!
