Hey AP Style gurus, we have a question about ISIS. On first - TopicsExpress

Hey AP Style gurus, we have a question about ISIS. On first reference must we spell out Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, and then use ISIS on second reference? Or can ISIS be used on first reference? All I can find on the AP website (since Im not a subscriber) is that you can use Islamic State group or IS for second reference. That makes me think ISIS can be first reference, but I want to be certain. Kind of on deadline here....
