Hey Bill, I just checked on KYs personal property tax. Im still trying to make sense of it, but it looks like there is a state-level PPT of 45 cents per $100 of value or 0.45 percent. There are then county- and city-level taxes on top of that which vary, but it looks like the area were looking at has a combined PPT of 1.317%. So the annual PPT on a $30,000 vehicle (I guess it depends on the assessed value) would be about $395/yr. Not horrible, but more than CAs VLF. Real estate property tax is about 1.15% in that area which is about what it is for our house here (Older house, no bonds or Mello Roos). Well easily make up for the extra personal property tax in another ways, in fact one property were looking at is on 10.01 acres in order to get an ag tax credit/deduction for being over 10 acres. :)
