Hey Edward Brodie you seen this one. Hi Steve, Thanks for you email. Yea, unfortunately my Gespann spends more time in the garage than on the road or metal road. Thats where it belongs and is allot of fun, specially if you have a copilot swinging on the chair. The bike is a 91 R80GS sold new to an Electrician in Germany. In 99 he got it converted to a sidecar outfit at the Carell sidecar company. The whole rig got custom made for NZ with the chair been attached to the left side. They are normally on the right for left hand rules in Europe and US. All certified in Germany by the TÜV. In January 2000 it came to NZ. The sidecar modification starts with a Carell earl front end including two Koni shocks. The frame has additional braces and gussets welded in, plus a subframe to keep all in check and straight. The sidecar frame is steel with an aluminium seat and guard. The seat swings up to access the boot to load it with two boxes of beer or what ever one chooses as ballast. On the side is a Guzzi front wheel with a small disc coupled to the front brake. Due to this the rig stops dead straight when you hit the brakes. The Motor is standard R80. I only added an oil cooler because she used to get a bit hot. As you can imagine great aerodynamic was not part of the design criteria. Steve Bell
