Hey Everyone - thanks so much for the kind words and wishes. I am just home from the hospital, which has no wifi for patients (seriously, whats with that?). Also crushed the phone which was in the back pocket so no hotspot. Who knew what a bummer it could be to have no phone/internet? For those who asked how it happened: Was on the inaugural Gentlemens Leechtown Gravel Ride (just me, Peter Dunfield, Chris Karch and Ty Bellavie actually) and lost front wheel traction on one of the big dips out on Goose near Gillespie rd. in Sooke. Some loose gravel on the asphalt, and apparently too much speed. Went down super hard and knew I had broken my femur before I stopped sliding. Insane pain and leg at the wrong angle were the telltale signs. Chris called the ambulance and waited up at the road while Ty literally had my back so I didnt have to lean. Peter Stevenson (who I had not previously met) came upon the scene shortly thereafter and was kind enough to lend me his vest and gave lots of support. Had a great crew from Sooke Ambulance, and terrific care from VGH. Surgery Sunday. Tons of pain these last few days, but eased by the visits and narcotics. Special shout out to Sandy and Ty, Tee Kay Erik Hanson and Max Plaxton for the awesome cupcakes from Nourish! Going to lay low and gets lots of rest this next week, and will do all I can every single day to get back walking/riding ASAP but understand I am in for a long haul and rest is best right now... Thanks again everyone for the thoughts/prayers/wishes etc. - I know from experience how much it helps!
