Hey Gang, I want to share a lil bit of what I know personally about Mr. Kirk Whalum! He is one the Smoothest Jazz Artists on the scene today! In 1981 when I lived in Houston, Kirk came from Memphis to go to school at Texas Southern University which is also in Houston. On the weekends he would play at a Jazz Club called Roscos! He would come on stage, say his prayer and then go into a 2 hour set and play non-stop. When he would take his break, he didnt go backstage and hang until time to go back on. He would come out in the audience sit down at your table and strike up a conversation. And he did this until time for him to go back on stage. I met him and he in my mind, is probably the most humble cat I ever met in the music industry! He is a One of a Kind and certainly a credit to Jazz musicians everywhere!!!
