Hey Guys! Question--This past weekend I ran my first half marathon and boy was it challenging. I felt like the odds were stacked against me! I had bronchitis, so was unable to do my last long run, and was still having a difficult time controlling my breathing on race day, had less than 4 hours of sleep. Once on the course, the hills were dreadful(the course was beautiful!)-but even my friend said this was the hilliest course she has ever ran (several marathons, halfs, anything you can name.) I finished in a less than happy time for me--2:26:19. My question is, I was trying to use the sports beans but Im still not even sure how many you are supposed to eat mid run? I feel like I hit the wall around mile 7, and never fully recovered-regardless of how many beans I ate/walk breaks/etc! Are GUs better?Any suggestions or tips for my next half? (8 weeks away-Detroit free press) Thanks all!
