Hey Guys, for anyone thats interested I currently help run a program through the Oaktree Organisation (an Australian youth run organisation that focuses on ending extreme poverty) called Community Leaders. You can find out more about the program here: oaktree.org/become_a_community_leader Basically the Community Leaders program consists of a group of like-minded young people (mostly UQ students) meeting up every second monday night to discuss and learn about issues of extreme poverty, development and human rights, as well as gaining practical skills through activities centred around facilitation, public speaking and campaigning. The session coming up this Monday is focusing on the history of Timor Leste and the positives and negatives of the current development strategies being implemented, with an interesting look at the impact of disability on development. Anyone is welcome to come along! All knowledge levels welcome (from novice to expert). :) The session is being run from 6:30 to 8:30pm on Monday the 7th of April at Turnstyle, a youth space (address: 10 Laura St, Highgate Hill).
