Hey Guys, this is Andrew: I said Id post the homework for the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge. I know Im late, but here it is: In order to in earn this merit badge you must (if you havent already): 1. Watch the national evening news five days in a row OR read the front page of a major daily newspaper (OR online, with parent’s permission) five days in a row. Choose one of the issues and think about how it affects you and your family. Then meet with me (grab me at a scout meeting) and discuss what youve learned. 2. Write a letter about a national issue and send it to either Representative DeFazio, or Senators Smith or Merkley, sharing your view with him or her. Then meet with me and show me your letter and any response you receive. 3. Choose a speech of national historical importance. Find out about the author, the importance of the speech at the time it was given, and how it applies to American citizens today. Then meet with me and tell me what youve learned. 4. Make up any of the class times you missed (we met on 3 different scout meetings). Again, you can grab me at a scout meeting. 5. Come with the Troop on our field trip to the State Capitol in Salem on October 25th. Stay tuned for details! If you cant make it, talk to me about a way to make it up. Thanks everyone!
