Hey Interwebz. I crashed… on my face. My training plan was to ride around Belgium for 2 weeks, enjoy the beautiful nature and surroundings of Belgium, Luxembourg, and The Netherlands, but so far my training program has been: sleeping, eating soups, taking antibiotics, swallowing pain-killers, and not riding my bike, and here is why… It was last Thursday, July 24th, in the evening, the sky was dark and it was raining a lot, I was on my way home from my day at the office. High speed, high tyre pressure, wet surface, right turn, cobbles, no grip. I should have been more careful in these conditions. But if I ever had to crash on the road, these are the conditions I would have chosen, anything else would have been ridiculous. After 5 hours in the emergency room, where they x-rayed my knees and skull, checked me for internal bleeding, analyzed my blood, stitched my lips, and tried to rescue my broken teeth, followed by days in pain, the pain is now mostly gone. My scratches and bruises are healing, my right knee is in a functional state and I can walk again, my lips have swelled down and now allow me to see the carnage in my mouth. My dentist started to work some magic and I expect to be pain free in about a week or two. My bike also got some minor damage in the accident, Ill have that checked and repaired in my lbs, nothing dramatic I think. So, training probably wont happen before 2-3 weeks, and not in Belgium, but I am still looking forward to the race and trying to get fit again! In the meantime, I have been thinking about customizing my bike to support the WWF a little more, my girlfriend helped me to come up with some ideas, and you can find one of our tests on alvarum/yvg, this is far from final and certainly wont look like this on the race day, but youll get the idea :) Speaking of, you still have 72h to support my initiative by donating as little as 1$, and prevent elephants to get their teeth slaughtered… You can do so on alvarum/yvg Thanks for reading! - Yves
