Hey Merit Academy family, there is a lot to be thankful for this year! Here is a story that we are extra thankful for…On October 16th, 2014 Merit Academy, Southwest Airlines, KaBOOM!, PostHope - Hope Tangible, Nestle Inc., Wal-Mart, Chick-Fil-A, and several other local businesses sponsored a start to finish community playground build, designed for children with special needs in just 7 hours. Over 300 volunteers from all over the United States showed up to lend a helping hand in support of the entire build. Countless hours of sweat, tears, and hard-work were put into this project which resulted in a phenomenal outcome. We are incredibly thankful for all the wonderful companies, people, and community members that chose to get involved! Without the massive amount of team effort needed, this project would have never been completed. We love our playground and are so happy that parents of children with special needs now have a safe place to play that is designed specifically for them. The journey was amazing and our community has truly shown how much play really matters in the lives of children with special needs!
