The term Reproductive Justice was coined in 1994 at a Black womens caucus by activists who were searching for a way to address the realities of social, political, and economic inequality, and how these inequalities affect peoples abilities to make decisions about their reproductive lives. Moving away from a narrower discussion about choice and legal access, the reproductive justice movement has grown into a robust, multi-racial, multi-generational, multi-class movement that centers peoples lived experiences. Loretta J. Ross, one of the creators of this term and a longtime leader in the field, will talk about whats next for the Reproductive Justice movement and what challenges and exciting ways forward we face as activists. This event is on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014. It is held at : West Lecture Hall This event starts at 5:30pm.
