The term Reproductive Justice was coined in 1994 at a Black womens caucus by activists who were searching for a way to address the realities of social, political, and economic inequality, and how these inequalities affect peoples abilities to make decisions about their reproductive lives. Moving away from a narrower discussion about choice and legal access, the reproductive justice movement has grown into a robust, multi-racial, multi-generational, multi-class movement that centers peoples lived experiences. Loretta J. Ross, one of the creators of this term and a longtime leader in the field, will talk about whats next for the Reproductive Justice movement and what challenges and exciting ways forward we face as activists.
