Hey beginners! One question we get a lot from beginners is, My juice is tasting burnt. How do I fix that? There are a two primary reasons that are the usual suspects in causing the burnt or plastic taste. The number one reason is that the atomizer needs to be replaced. The atomizer is the part of your ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery System) that heats up and vaporizes your juice. Theyre not meant to last a lifetime. The life expectancy of an atomizer varies depending on make, voltage/wattage being used, thickness and viscosity of your juice, etc. One clear indication its time to change it: burnt or plastic-tasting juice. Atomizers are EASY to replace! If you have a cartomizer, those are usually designed to be thrown away and replaced entirely once they acquire a burnt or plastic taste (picture below). Keep in mind that there are some clearomizers that do not have replaceable atomizers and with those you just replace the entire clearomizer. In some rare cases, it may actually be cheaper to replace your entire clearomizer, even if it has a replaceable atomizer, than it is to buy a new atomizer. Just check several web pages and stores and find the best deal you can. Also keep in mind that atomizers can be bad out of the box. It doesnt happen often, but it does happen, so dont just buy one - buy a pack: youll need and use them! Ive included pictures below of clearomizers. Your replacement atomizer may have hanging wicks coming out of the top or side, or it may be a bottom wick, where the wick is hard to see. Atomizers in larger tanks also need to be replaced. They normally screw right out of the base of the tank and the new one screws into the same place. Your tank probably came with at least one spare atomizer, so make sure you get it before you throw that box away! Depending on the tank you have, your atomizer may or may not have visible wicks. IMPORTANT: Prime your atomizer before firing it. You can do this by taking dry puffs. Just suck on your ENDS like you normally would without firing it and pull some of that liquid into the wick. You should start to taste the liquid vapor a bit and then you know youve got juice on the wick and youre ready to apply voltage and wattage! Another reason your juice may be tasting burnt is that your voltage or wattage is set too high. One thing youll discover as you continue to vape is that certain juices have whats called a sweet spot where they taste the best. For one juice, that may be at 7.5 watts, while another juice may taste best at 22 watts, and another may be the best at 3.6 volts. You just have to play around and find that sweet spot for your ENDS. Of course, if you change your ENDS.. that sweet spot may change as well. So if replacing your atomizer doesnt work... lower your voltage and wattage and try it again!
