Hey everyone - Megan wrote in today with a question: Hi, Ill come clean straight away and tell you I am a novice rider and still have a lot to learn. I have been given charge to exercise a lady I knows Palomino. She is 20 years and a lovely natured push button ride. Though the beginning of hacks are a wonderful, enjoying the views as we to walk out, but then as soon as we are past the half way line, she speeds right up and would canter all the way home. I fight against this with the result of lots of head tossing and chewing on the bit. I can see she is uncomfortable because Im fighting against her desire to gallop all the way home. But on top of that I am beginner rider and thus I know i putting more strain on her mouth than no doubt what she is used to. I would love to try her on a bitless bridle BUT I am concerned with me being a novice am I just chucking away most of the control?? BUT I hate the thought that the only control Im having is through upsetting her mouth. We dont have a large yard in the livery and the field due to the rain November weather is always bogged up. So she is stabled until I take her for a gentle hack. Would you honestly suggest trying the bitless bridle on her? I really would love to give it a go. But Im unsure of how much control you really have over a horse if there isnt a bit there? Any advice would great! Many thanks Megan
