Hey everyone, and welcome to book club! Im Evelyn, one of the many minions of Spineless Wonders, and the creator of the trailer for this anthology. We have a pretty exciting discussion ahead of ourselves, as well hopefully be joined by several of the contributing authors tonight. So welcome, everyone, feel free to post as many comments, questions, criticisms or queries here, but I might kick off discussion with a general question open to everyone. As youre all probably aware from the title, this anthology deals with the world to come. It gives us a range of stories which look to the future, as dark and threatening as it may be. Dystopia saturate our media; the Hunger Games, Divergent, Walking Dead, Dollhouse, and just about every episode of Doctor Who. 1984 and Brave New World are standard reading for every lover of literature. So what is it we find so addictive about these dark predictions for our future? Are they a way for us to play out our deepest fears and anxieties so the future is not so unknown (better to know your enemy)? Or is there something masochistic about it? Does it, as I believe, give us hope? Discuss away!
