Hey guys. A few of you have been asking why Ive included percentages of your one rep max in the WODs recently. There are a few reasons, but fundamentally its to make sure that the integrity of the program isnt compromised. We want to make sure that none of you plateau and that you continue to hit PRs! However there is a time and a place for PRs and that time and place is not every session!!! The reason we have percentages is to prevent anyone from working at too low an intensity even if they work up to a heavy set. For example, if someone completed the following weights for their 5 sets of Push Press tonight - 60kg, 70kg, 80 kg, 90kg, 100kg, there is a 40 kg difference between the first and last set. The last set has probably been a 3 rep max and this is unsustainable over 5 sets. This person has also worked at a much lower intensity for 3 of the 5 sets. A much more comprehensive way of seeing improvement would be to complete all 5 sets at 90kg and this would also provide a greater overall intensity and work output over the 5 sets.
